LESSON PROCEDURE
I. Introductions and Greetings
Song

"Good Morning Dear Pupils" (song #1.6)
●
Ask pupils to introduce their neighbor. Model the introduction dialogue with Max.
- Max asks you: Who are you and who is your friend?
- You answer: I am (your name). This is (name of pupil next to you). S/He
is a boy/girl.
- Have Max model this dialogue a few times with the class. Pupils say their
name and then the name of a pupil sitting next to them while pointing to
that pupil.
- Repeat until the class feels comfortable with the conversation.
- Call a few pupils to the front of the class to practice the dialogue.

- Give out the animal flashcards for the song.
- Ask: Who wants to be the (animal)? Pupils reply: I do!
Give the flashcard to a pupil and continue until you have handed †out all
the animal flashcards.
- Ask: Who is the ______ ? (Choose one of the animals.) The pupil with
that animal flashcard gets up and acts like the animal, making appropriate
sounds. The class repeat the sounds.
- Now sing the "Zoo Song."

Guessing Game (game #31)
- A pupil chooses a farm or zoo animal and whispers the name of the animal
in the teacher's ear.
- The pupil says to the class: I am thinking of an animal that begins with
the letter ___ . The class must guess the animal.

Cross the River Game (game #37)
- Play the game, using flashcards of both zoo and farm animals.
- Add ABC cards to the game.
