- ABC Strip Game (game #56): You (or a volunteer) say a word that has been
learned, emphasizing the beginning sound. A pupil goes to the ABC strip and
finds the beginning letter of the word. If the answer is correct, repeat (ball,
/b/, begins with B.)
- Letter Mats (game #58): group competition. Scatter letter flashcards on the
floor. Call out a word (or have a volunteer say a word) emphasizing the
beginning sound. Pupils from different groups look for the beginning letter
of the word and bring the card back to their group. Repeat correct answers.
