MFEA-456 TG - Book - Page 227
- Give the first group the dice. A pupil in the group tosses it and calls out the
number that lands face up.
- Ask a question from the number category thrown on the dice. Hold up a
card from that category or point to an object and ask: What is this? or ask
a question that is connected to topics or books pupils have read, such as:
What animal is this? What color is it? I see a _____ looking at me.
Who makes the bread?
- If the group answers correctly, they get a point. If pupils say a complete
expression or sentence, they get 2 points.
●
Replace some of the categories with previously learned letters.
- Ask a question about the letter: Show me this letter on the ABC poster.
What is the name of the letter? What is the sound? Say 1, 2 or 3
words that start with this letter.
●
Abracadabra Mime Game (game #39)
- Ask every pupil to stand in a square near his/her chair.
- Tell pupils that during this game, they must stay in their own square.
- Say the magic spell: Abracadabra, fiddley doo, What oh what shall I
make you? You are an elephant!
- Pupils have to pantomime the movements of an elephant without making
a sound. When you say freeze pupils stop moving and wait for the next
magic spell.
- After modeling a few times, call on pupils to say the magic spell.
●
Letter Mime Game (game #64)
- Have pupils form letters with their hands, arms or bodies. Pupils may play
in pairs or in groups. When you say freeze, tap one group or pair on their
shoulder and tell them a letter. They must make the sound of that letter.
(If you turn pupils into a T, then pupils lie on the floor, or make a T with
hands, etc.)
