sentence.
- Ask pupils to find the words sit and sad.
- Ask pupils to find the word happy. Remind them that the beginning letter is h.
- Review the word boy. Point to the picture and say boy, emphasizing the
sound /b/.
- Ask comprehension questions: Who is sad? Who is happy?
- Read the story together.

Making a Zoo - Group Project

Tell pupils: Open the Activity Book to page 47.
- Divide the class into groups.
- Give each group a page of A3 paper with pictures of several cages,
a waterhole, and a few pits.
- Tell each group to decide which animals they want to put in each kind of
animal home to make their group zoo. Tell pupils to color and cut out the
animals and paste them in their homes.
- Tell pupils to write their names on their zoo. Hand out pupils' namecards
if necessary.
- Put up all the zoo pictures together on the brown paper on the wall. At the
top, write the title: Our Zoos.

Class ABC Book
- Give each group a piece of A3 paper and one of the 6 letters learned in this
unit. Ask pupils to write the letter in the center of the page. The group may
either find pictures in magazines or draw pictures with that beginning letter.
- Each group presents their poster to the class. They introduce the letter with
the chant: The letter is ____, the sound is / /. Then pupils say the
names of the pictures on their poster.
- When all the groups have presented their posters, punch holes in the sheets
and add them to the book. The book will eventually be in alphabetical order.
