Say: Good morning/afternoon! Hello, Grade 6! and introduce yourself to the class.

Ask: What day is it today? (Elicit the full date and write it on the board: Today is (Sunday),
(September 1). Have pupils copy the date into their notebooks.

Go around the room and ask different pupils:
What is your name? (Elicit: My name is ___ .)
How are you? (Elicit: I am fine, thank you.)
