Read the first part of the story My Dream House together as a class. Ask the pupils comprehension
questions while reading:
Page 60: Who is speaking in the story? (Alex) What is his favorite TV show? (‘Amazing Houses’)
What is the show ‘Amazing Houses’ about? (People who build interesting houses) How many floors
are in the dream house? (Two) What is on the ground floor? The kitchen, living room, and dining
room)
Page 61: Why are the drawers in the kitchen special? (The drawers clean the dishes.) What does the
refrigerator have on the door? (A screen) What does the screen show? (Ideas of what to make for
dinner.) What is in the living room? (A big screen and many chairs) What is in the dining room? (A
long table with many chairs)
Page 62: What color are the walls in Alex’s bedroom? (Blue and green) What is in Alex’s bedroom?
(A bed, a television, stairs) What can Alex see from the roof? (The whole village) Is Alex’s closet
always tidy? (Yes, it is.)
Page 63: What is in the first bathroom? (A bath) What color is the toilet in the second bathroom?
(Orange) What color is the bath in the second bathroom? (Blue)
Page 64: What is Alex’s favorite place to be? (Outside) What is across from the swimming pool? (A
football field) What is behind the football field? (A bicycle track)
Page 65: What does Alex’s dream house have? (It has many rooms and fun things to do outside.)
What does Alex’s normal house have? (a clean kitchen, living room, one bathroom, nice bedrooms)
Alex says that his house is not his dream house, but he thinks it is still an ‘amazing house’. Why
does he think that his house is an ‘amazing house’? Do you think that your house is an ‘amazing
house’? (Ask pupils to give a personal response.)

Have pupils complete the tasks. Review the instructions for each task before allowing pupils to work on
their own or with a partner/small group.

When pupils are finished, check answers.

Have pupils watch the video “I Bought My Dream House”

As pupils are watching the video, have them write down what they see: kitchen, stairs, bathroom,
bed, etc.
After watching the video, ask pupils what they like the most about the house.
Make a list on the board of the words that the pupils wrote down.
Optional enrichment project: Have pupils make a video of their own house (narrated in English).
