Ask: What day is it today? (Elicit the full date and write it on the board: Today is (Sunday), (December
21). Have pupils copy the date into their notebooks.

What’s the weather like today? (Elicit: The weather is…)
Say: In the first part of unit 2, we were at the farm. Now, we are at the supermarket.
Go around the room and ask different pupils:
What types of food do you have in the refrigerator at your house?
What are your favorite types of food?
Write the different types of food on the board. Then call out the different food the pupils mentioned
and have them respond thumb up/thumb down if they like that food or not. Play the game several
times to review food.
