Teach the new vocabulary using the word cards: gram, must, prepare, until.
Ask pupils: What foods can you prepare? Accept any logical answer.
Ask pupils: What are some things that you must do every day? Accept any logical answer.
Have pupils point to and read each new word in their Course Books on page 92.
Vocab Activity
Do the activity to review and practice vocabulary (show the word cards): gram, must, prepare, until, list,
ingredient, supper, salt, butter, cream, onion, pan, mix, be careful, stove, knife, sauce.
One at a Time (VA #24)
Show the review words or hide them for a challenge.
Choose a word. Don’t tell the pupils the word you chose. Begin by writing the first letter of the word
on the board. Have pupils guess which word you are writing. After a few seconds, if pupils haven’t
guessed correctly, add the second letter. Continue until pupils guess the word, or you have written
the complete word on the board.
Play a few rounds to practice different words. The teacher may choose a volunteer to lead.

Ask pupils if they like to eat pasta.
Have pupils look at the recipe and write the imperatives in their notebooks.

Say: Scan the text and write all the imperatives in your notebook. Call on pupils and write the words on
the board.

Before reading, ask pupils about the text type. Elicit that it is a recipe and point out the features of the
text type (picture, ingredients, and instructions).

Have pupils look at the picture and predict what ingredients will be listed in the recipe.
Read the text together with the pupils. After reading, ask the pupils what the recipe is for.
