Review the vocabulary using the word cards before doing the activity.

BINGO (VA #3)
Have pupils draw a 3x3 grid in their notebooks (creating 9 squares) and write any review word they
choose in the squares.
Play BINGO by saying a word and have pupils mark if they have that word on their BINGO grid.
Record the words you say on the board.
Continue saying words until a pupil gets three in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) and
calls: BINGO! Check the winning words against the list on the board.

Vocab Activity – Pre-Reading

Clue (VA #25)
Have pupils work with a partner or small group to scan the story on pages 90-95 in their Course
Books. Give pupils the clues below and have pupils write down where they found each picture or
word (page number). More than one possibility for some clues is possible.
1. Find a picture of a farmer in a field.
2. Find a picture of machines in a factory.
3. Find a picture of someone shopping at a supermarket.
4. Find the word "full."
5. Find the word "empty."
Pre-Reading
•
Show the story Where Does My Food Come From? Before reading, have pupils look at the story and
make predictions about what will happen based on the pictures and title.
•
Discuss the text type of the story. Determine that it is a Youtube video with subtitles and point out the
features of the text type (play button, profile picture and name, screen, play and pause buttons at the
bottom of the screen, character narrating the video, subtitles, etc.). Have pupils make predictions about
what the video is about.

Read the story Where Does My Food Come From? together as a class. Ask the pupils comprehension
questions while reading:
Page 100: Who is speaking in the video? (Zoya) What ingredients do you need to make pizza?
(Flour, tomatoes, and cheese) Where do most of the ingredients come from? (A farm)
Page 101: What type of field is Zoya visiting? (A wheat field.) What ingredient is made from wheat?
(Flour.)
Page 102: Where do tomatoes grow? (In large fields.) Who picks the tomatoes? (The farmers.)
Where do the farmers send the boxes of tomatoes? (To supermarkets and factories.)
Page 103: How do the farmers get milk from the cows? (They use machines.) Where is the cheese
put for one to two weeks? (In a large refrigerator.)
Page 104: How many bags of flour does Zoya buy? (One.) What type of cheese does Zoya buy?
