Before reading, have pupils say what qualities they look for in a friend.

Ask pupils about the text type. Elicit that it is a board with notes and point out the features of the text
type (handwritten, short, small papers, etc.).
Have pupils look at the text and make predictions about what is written in the text, based on the title
of the board and the text type. Teach the word “note” through the context of the text (use L1 if
needed to explain the meaning). Determine that the students wrote notes describing other students
in the class.

Ask the pupils to give a personal response: Which student from the Friendship Board do you want to be
friends with? Do you have a friend who is like any of the students from the Friendship Board?
