Mr. Smith: I hope everyone is enjoying the Stone Age room. Let’s play a question and
answer game. Here are the instructions:
Everybody gets a paper with a question about the Stone Age.
First, write your name on the paper. Then read the question.
Look for the answers to the questions on signs, on screens, or in drawings that are in the
room. Write the correct answer on your paper.
When you finish, put your papers in this box.
The first person to put a correct answer in the box wins the game!
Does everyone understand?
Students: Yes!
Mr. Smith: Are you ready?
Students: Yes!
Mr. Smith: Let’s begin. Pause. Great! I can see everyone is looking around for answers.
Alex is the first one to put his answer in the box. Amir is second and Zoya is third. Let’s read
their questions and answers. Alex’s question is: What can you make with two stones?
Alex’s answer: The internet
Students: Laughter
Mr. Smith: I think you are just trying to make everyone laugh, Alex. That’s not the correct
answer. What is the correct answer?
Students: Fire!
Mr. Smith: Yes! Fire is the correct answer. Very good. Next is Amir’s question: What were some
popular types of food in the Stone Age? Amir’s Answer: Fruits and vegetables. That is
correct! Very good, Amir! Zoya’s question is: What is something from the Stone Age that we can
still see on cave walls today?
Zoya’s answer: Drawings! Also correct!
The winner gets a special stone as a prize!

Have pupils choose the correct answer to each question.

Have pupils read the dialogue with a partner. Then, have pupils change the bolded words with words
from the word box.

After working together, choose volunteers to perform their version of the dialogue for the class.

Extension: Have more advanced pupils customize the dialogue using their own words to replace the
bolded words.

Have pupils complete the tasks. Review the instructions for each task before allowing pupils to work on
their own or with a partner/small group.
