Ask: What day is it today? (Elicit the full date and write it on the board: Today is (Sunday), (April 21).
Have pupils copy the date into their notebooks.

Say: In this unit, we are visiting a history museum. In part one, we were in the Stone Age room. In part
two, we are in the Middle Ages room.
•
Go around the room and ask different pupils:
Tell me something that you did yesterday. (Elicit a sentence in Past Simple.)
Tell me something that you did last year. (Elicit a sentence in Past Simple.)
Vocab Activity

Do the activity to review the vocabulary (show the word cards): ago, build, cave, drawing, fire, gather,
history, king, simple, stone, the past, the present, queen, village, was, were.

Review the vocabulary using the word cards before doing the activity.
