Narrator: All of King Edward and Queen Ann’s friends arrived at the party at the little castle.
During the party, Queen Ann walked around the castle to see if everyone was happy. Many people
were singing, dancing, and playing games in the big hall. Some people chose to go to the castle
library where it was quiet. Queen Ann went to the library with them.
The royal people read interesting books. The other people in the library did not know how to read,
but they still looked at all the books. Queen Ann heard her friend, Farmer Fred, say,
Farmer Fred: I want to learn to read, so I can read all these books. I’m interested in many subjects.
Narrator: Queen Ann was sad that her friends from the village didn’t know how to read. She
wanted them to enjoy books just like her royal friends.
Next, the Queen went into the dining room. Everyone was talking, laughing, and eating.
Queen Ann smiled. But she saw that the royal people were on one side of the room and the people
from the village were on the other side of the room. She wanted everyone to talk to each other and
be friends. She wanted to bring people together, but she didn’t know how.
She thought about how Farmer Fred wants to learn how to read. Then, she remembered how
another friend, King James, loves to read.
Quen Ann: King James has a thousand books. I think he would like to share his knowledge. Also, he
told me that he wants to learn more about where his food comes from. And Farmer Fred loves to
grow vegetables and bring people to his farm to show them where food comes from.
Narrator: She had a great idea. She called out ….
Queen Ann: Farmer Fred, come here, I want you to meet someone. King James! Where are you?
There is somebody here I want you to meet. I am very excited!
