Mr. Smith: I hope you are enjoying the Age of Discovery room. Now we are going to watch a
program with Virtual Reality glasses. When you use virtual reality glasses to watch a video, you feel
like you are in the video. This video has four parts.
Please put on your VR glasses, so we can watch a video on the Age of Discovery. Is everyone ready?
Students: Yes.
Mr. Smith: Let’s begin!
Narrator: Part 1:
People who lived during the Age of Discovery didn’t have computers or telephones. They did not
learn about the world online. They read books and looked at maps.
Narrator: Part 2:
During the Age of Discovery, some people wanted to learn more about the world. They got on ships
and traveled across the sea.
Sailor: (Background noise: Waves crashing.) All I can see is water. The sea is very deep and very
wide. We left home 2 months ago. We are brave to travel so far from home.
Narrator: Part 3:
Sometimes there were storms that made the waves come up above the ships. It was hard to travel
by sea during the storms. (Background noise: Rain, wind, and thunder.)
Sailor: Oh no! Soon the boat will be full of water from the rain, wind, and waves!
Narrator: Part 4:
When people arrived at the new islands, they often saw animals and flowers they never saw
before. During the Age of Discovery, people took trips across the sea to learn about the world.
Maps were better. People from different places began to talk to each other. They started to buy
things from each other. Everyone learned more about animals, trees, fruits, and vegetables.
People traveled to learn, to meet new people, and to buy new things.
