Draw a 3x3 grid on the board (making 9 squares). Write one word in each square.
Divide the class into two teams. Play Tic Tac Toe, but in order to place an X or O on the board, the
team (or a volunteer from the team) must say a sentence using the given word.
Repeat until one team gets three in a row to win the game.
Repeat with a new gameboard to practice different words.

Read the text together with the pupils.

After reading, check if the pupils' predictions were correct. Elicit that it is a letter from an explorer to the
King of Spain. Elicit what the pupils have learned from reading the text.

Ask the pupils: Do people still send letters? Do you know how to send a letter? If you want to tell
something to someone in a different country, how can you do it?
