pupils give them.

the characters.

Amir: The past, present, and future are all coming together!
In the past, Grant and I were best friends. We loved to play football and make each other laugh
during lunchtime at school. Then, one day in Grade 3, Grant shared some bad news with me. He
had to move to New York City. His mom got a new job there. I was very upset.
Grant’s mom had an interesting job. She told people the news on television in Hillside. My family
and I always watched her in the evenings. Whenever I went to Grant’s house, we heard interesting
stories about her job. She said she was sad to leave Hillside, but also excited to work in a big city.
After Grant moved, we still called each other and sent emails. We also visited each other.
Today I got a new email from Grant. He is returning to Hillside with his family before the end of
the school year! His mom misses Hillside and she wants to work at the Hillside TV station again.
Soon, Grade 6 is having a party to celebrate the end of the school year. I want to invite Grant. I
would like him to celebrate with our class. I think everyone will be excited to see him. Mrs. Mark
is planning the party. I will ask her if she can send Grant an invitation. I hope he can join us.

After listening, have pupils match the beginning of the sentence to the end, based on what Amir said.
