Do the activity to review the vocabulary (show the word cards): celebrate, join, machine, guest.
•
Review the vocabulary using the word cards before doing the activity.

Disappearing Card (VA #2)
Show all the cards and have pupils say the words.
Then, hide one card and have the pupils say the words again, including the one you have hidden.
Continue until all the cards are hidden and the pupils say the words in order from memory.

Before reading, have pupils look at the text and say what type of text they think it is.

Ask pupils about the text type. Elicit that it is an invitation and point out the features of the text type
(type of party, date, time, location, etc.).
Have pupils look at the text and find the information about the party: Why are they having a party?
(to celebrate the end of grade 6) When is the party? (June 22 at 7 o’clock) Where is the party?

Have pupils look at the text and make predictions based on this information.

Read the invitation together with the pupils.

After reading, ask the pupils what the students will do at the party. Elicit what they pupils have learned
