Have pupils draw a 3x3 grid in their notebooks (creating 9 squares) and write any review words they
choose in the squares.
Play BINGO by saying a word and have pupils mark if they have that word in their BINGO grid. Record
the words you say on the board.
Continue saying words until a pupil gets three in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) and
calls: BINGO! Check the winning words against the list on the board.
Vocabulary
New

Teach the new vocabulary using the word cards: already, else, especially, extra, feeling, final, joke,
memory, recognize, remind, wait a minute.

Have pupils point to and read each new word in their Course Books on pages 202/203.
Word Workout (stative verbs): Explain to pupils that some verbs show thoughts or feelings. These are
called stative verbs. Write examples on the board and practice their meanings: believe, want, like. Elicit
from pupils other stative verbs that they know. Then elicit action verbs they know in English. Write those
along side on the board.
Ready to Read with Words I Know – New Phonics Pattern

Tell pupils that ‘re’ at the beginning of a word makes the sound /re/, as in the words: remind, return.
Ask pupils which of these words is a new word they have just learned. Elicit: remind, return

Ask: How many parts (syllables) does the word ‘remind’ have? (Elicit: 2)
Say and clap to count the syllables: /re/ /mind/ ‘remind’
Have the pupils say and clap the syllables with you.
Repeat with the word ‘return’.
Elicit other words pupils know with this pattern.
Vocab Activity

Do the activity to review and practice the vocabulary (show the word cards): already, else, especially,
extra, feeling, final, joke, memory, recognize, remind, wait a minute.

Context Clues (VA #22)
Have pupils work in small groups/pairs to choose at least 4 words form the list. They should write
one sentence in English using each word in their notebooks.
When pupils are finished, say the words one by one and ask volunteers to read the sentences they
wrote. If no pupil/group chose a particular word, create a sentence together as a class.
