Write the word “CELEBRATE” in capital letters from top to bottom on the board.
Work together as a class to write an acrostic poem. Write one word or phrase beginning with each
letter in the word “CELEBRATE” that they associate with the word. Use the brainstorming ideas to
help.
Alternatively, have pupils work in small groups/pairs to write their own acrostic poems in their
notebooks. Pupils may use the brainstorming done by the class, the glossary in the back of the
Course Book, or any other words they associate with the word. Accept any logical additions to the
poems.
One example of the acrostic poem may look like this:
Clean the house before the guests arrive
Enjoy
Let’s have a party
Extra cake for me!
Birthday
Remember to send the invitations
A wonderful way to make memories
Thank you for the gift
Especially fun
Vocab Activity
•
Do the activity to review the vocabulary in the unit.
•
Word Web (VA #10)
Draw a word web with a word in the center, such as celebrate, memory, etc.
In their notebooks, have pupils copy the word web and write at least three vocabulary words around
it that relate to the center word. Pupils can choose any word that refers to the word in the center.
Repeat to create word webs for other words.
Have pupils work in partners or in small groups. When pupils are finished, ask each group to share a
word web with the class.
Alternatively, say the word and then call on three pupils to give three associated words.

Do the activity to review the forms: Future Simple (positive), Future Simple (negative).

Sentence Builder (VA #20)
Before the lesson, prepare the Sentence Builder cards. You will need the following cards: pronouns,
will, negation card (not), verbs (for example: eat, sleep, play) and noun phrases (things) (for example:
football, candy, ice cream, etc.)
Pass out the cards, one per pupil.
Have pupils stand in a line to create sentences. Say a sentence and have the pupils who hold the
correct cards stand at the front of the class. For example: (You) (will) (eat) (ice cream). / (You) (will)
(not) (eat) (candy).
