Say a new sentence by changing either the pronoun or the verb form at a time, or by adding not.
Play a few times to have pupils practice building sentences in both the positive and negative forms of
Future Simple.
Extension: Use all the Sentence Builder cards to review the other tenses that they have learned this
year.

Have pupils look at all the new words from UNIT 5. Remind the pupils that they can find the words at the
bottom of pages 190-206. Have pupils find words from the unit that fit the criteria and write them in
their notebooks.

Have pupils plan an end of the year party and invite a sixth grade class from a different school.

The pupils are responsible for all the details: deciding on a date and location, deciding what class to
invite, making and sending the invitations, planning the menu and activities, shopping, set-up on the day
of the party, etc.

Have pupils follow the instructions to complete the performance-based task (PBT). Have pupils assess
their work by completing the performance task checklist on page 278 of the Workbook.
The pupils' work may then be displayed in an English corner in the classroom. Use the Performance Task
Rubric in Appendix IV b to assess the pupils' work.
