Class Discussion
•
Ask pupils the following questions. Encourage responses in English and emphasize the target vocabulary
in the pupils' answers. Reassure pupils that there is not one correct answer.
1. What are the different parts of a house?
2. How many floors do you have in your house? How many rooms?
3. What rooms do you have in your house?
Vocab Activity
•
Do the activity to review and practice the vocabulary (show the word cards): bathroom, bedroom, dining
room, door, downstairs, floor, front, inside, kitchen, living room, roof, room, stairs, swimming pool,
upstairs.
•
Guess What (VA #14)
Choose a vocabulary word. Don’t tell the pupils the word you chose. Begin drawing the word on the
board. Have the pupils guess which word you are drawing.
Have the pupil who guessed correctly come to the board to play the next round. Play several rounds
to practice the words.
The activity can be done as a whole class or as a team/small group competition.

Have pupils work with a partner. Have each pair look at the picture and write down a list of items they
see in the picture. Go around the room and ask each pair to say one thing. (Accept any logical answer)

Note: Pupils should respond using a full sentence. Less strong pupils can be encouraged to use the new
words on the bottom of the page with L1 translation to respond at a word level.

Have pupils read the dialogue with a partner. Then, have pupils change the bolded words to apply
the sentences to their house or the house that they would like to live in. Have pupils repeat the
dialogue with their partner, and then switch roles.
•
After working together, choose volunteers to perform their version of the dialogue for the class.
