Ask pupils which of these is a new word they have just learned. Elicit: watch.

Ask: How many parts (syllables) does the word ‘watch’ have? (Elicit: 1)
Say and clap to count the syllables: /watch/ ‘watch’
Have the pupils say and clap the syllables with you.
Vocab Activity
•
Do the activity to review and practice the vocabulary (show the word cards): clothes, glasses, hole, jeans,
pair, pocket, raincoat, shirt, suit, top, watch.
•
Pass the Ball (VA #6)
Toss a soft ball or object to a pupil and ask a question. For example: What color is your shirt? Do you
have glasses? Does your shirt have a pocket? etc. Have the pupil respond before passing the ball to
another pupil and asking the question again.
After a few pupils have been passed the ball, change the question.
Continue until each pupil has answered at least one question.
Class Discussion
•
Ask pupils the following questions. Encourage responses in English and emphasize the target vocabulary
in the pupils' answers. Reassure pupils that there is not one correct answer.
1. Where do you keep your clothes?
2. Do you have a favorite pair of shoes, top, jeans, or shirt? What color is it/are they?
3. Why is it your favorite?

Say: Look at the picture. What do you see in Alex’s room? (Elicit: I see a bedroom, clothes, jeans, shoes,
glasses, etc.)

Note: For less strong pupils ask: What do you see in the picture? They can respond at a word level
making use of the translated words on the bottom of the page.

Ask pupils: Is your bedroom clean? Is it easy for you to find things in your room? Have different pupils
answer the question.

Have pupils choose the correct word from the word box to complete the sentence (based on the picture
in task 1).
