Review the vocabulary using the word cards before doing the activity.

Vocabulary Auction (VA #28)
Divide the class into teams. Give each team a set amount of “money” (play cash or points).
Display vocabulary words and let the teams bid on words.
Once a team wins a word, they must define it or use it in a sentence to “keep” it. If they cannot,
other teams have a chance to “steal” the word by defining or using it correctly. The team with the
most words at the end, wins.

Before reading, ask pupils about the text type. Elicit that it is a text message screen and point out the
